Trace of Elegance website

I was assigned to design and develop this website as a solo project. I chose to develop the original version using Adobe Flash at a time when the technology was still favoured over HTML only development environments. The core facilities of Flash were utilised in areas of animation, full screen resizing and loading of smaller components such as the image slideshows.

The following samples of the project are from the original design files, the rendering of the Flash files no longer matches the intended design style.

As the Flash version did not easily allow for minor edits or being able to add on other sections, the project was re-developed for HTML and CSS with editing and maintenance in mind when it became necessary.

Bürgen Bread Ad Campaign 2005

The brief of this project specified the design of a series of advertisements to enhance the sales of Bürgen Soy-Lin bread to their target market: women of all ages.

The featured bread of this campaign has been developed specifically to enhance the diet of women in any stage of their life, and so it was designed to sell the message to the reader. The campaign would have been included in suitable magazines which have a female target market.

Taxi Voucher Scheme 2006

This real work project was assigned to our design class. The brief included the design of several elements to aid in the promotion of the Taxi Voucher Scheme. The scheme was developed as a service to those who may not have enough funds to purchase a typical taxi fare, ensuring their safety by providing an alternative payment method.

This small example demonstrates logo evolution, as well as adapting the design based on feedback. The project package included: logo design, information brochure, business card, display poster, drink coaster and point of sale flag.

Photographer Advertisement Project 2005

The brief for this project was to design an effective two page layout within a magazine, to advertise a professional photographer. A small aspect of the project was to create the photographer's name.

I took all the photos myself around the QVMAG grounds in Launceston. The main photo is actually several photos stitched together to create the panorama style photo. This was accomplished mostly using Adobe Photoshop but with some manual adjustment as well.

Poster Design 2006

I designed this A3 poster for a Launceston Street festival while studying Graphic Design at TAFE. The festival organisers presented the task as a practical class project, the design that best met their needs was chosen to be printed and posted within the city to help spread the word.

Our brief was to create a design that appealed to a wide range of young people.
The final design also became a calendar card and was featured in the Examiner Newspaper.

The first three photos used are freely available stock images, while the final image was provided by the client.

You may find more information about the festival here.
